Senior SCADA & OT Network Specialist
Turn complex SCADA requirements and OT network challenges into reliable solutions across renewable energy environments.
About the job
Use your SCADA expertise to solve complex technical challenges and help our North American customers operate and improve their wind, solar, and battery energy storage systems.
At Opoura, you will take technical ownership of advanced customer projects while working with experienced colleagues to deliver smart, scalable solutions that help our clients succeed in the energy transition.
Your role
You will join our Professional Services in North America, providing specialist engineering services throughout the customer asset lifecycle. Your work will combine advanced troubleshooting, industrial network engineering, SCADA integration, technical advisory, and selected onsite assignments.
Industrial and OT networking will be a central part of the role. You will take independent ownership of complex issues, guide customers and colleagues toward practical solutions, and strengthen the technical standards and shared knowledge behind our delivery.
The position is based in the US, ideally in proximity to Houston or Portland. The role may involve some travel, approximately 30-50 days per year.
Key responsibilities
Own complex SCADA, OT, and industrial network issues from diagnosis and root-cause analysis through resolution and documentation.
Design, configure, and troubleshoot managed switches, routing, VLANs, firewalls, VPNs, remote connectivity, and related OT infrastructure.
Resolve communication and integration issues involving SCADA servers, controllers, field devices, and third-party systems.
Translate customer requirements and existing system conditions into reliable, maintainable, and secure technical solutions.
Plan and execute SCADA lifecycle activities, including equipment replacements, upgrades, commissioning, and onsite troubleshooting.
Strengthen delivery quality through technical reviews, clear documentation, knowledge sharing, and guidance for less experienced colleagues.
To be successful in this position, you
Take confident ownership of difficult technical work and stay engaged until there is a clear resolution.
Approach problems analytically while keeping the wider system and customer impact in view.
Build trust with customers and colleagues through clear communication and dependable delivery.
Apply sound technical judgment so network and SCADA solutions, configurations, and changes are reliable, secure, maintainable, and clearly documented.
Bring structure to changing project conditions without overcomplicating the solution.
Share expertise openly and in a practical way that builds confidence and capability across the team.
Your background
We imagine that you bring:
Substantial hands-on experience from industrial networking, SCADA, automation, or another operational technology environment.
Proven experience configuring and troubleshooting industrial networks, including routing, switching, VLANs, firewalls, and VPNs.
Experience diagnosing complex connectivity, infrastructure, and system integration issues.
A good understanding of SCADA architectures and industrial communication protocols.
Familiarity with Windows-based or virtualized server environments and remote diagnostic tools.
Professional fluency in English and the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience with wind, solar, battery energy storage, power generation, utilities, or critical infrastructure is an advantage, but not a requirement. A relevant technical degree is preferred, although equivalent practical experience is equally valuable.
What we offer
Meaningful ownership of technically complex work that directly affects the reliability of renewable energy operations.
Professional growth through varied SCADA and OT environments across wind, solar, and battery assets, and advanced integration challenges.
Collaboration with customers, field resources, and technical colleagues across an international renewable energy technology company.
A generous benefits package including a 401(K) plan, medical, life and disability insurance.
Paid vacation agreed on an individual basis, in addition to 11 holidays and 5 personal days.
