This role leads technical sales prequalification and develops client-minded solutions by identifying and highlighting gaps between customers’ requirements and our technical offerings. You will support all parts of the technical sales process with the commercial lead and provide input to ensure a smooth handover of the project from Sales to Project Management.
The position is based in Hamburg, Germany, and involves collaboration with international colleagues across countries and disciplines.
Your role
As our Solution Engineer, you add significant value through your technical insights and your deep understanding of the various business challenges our customers may face. By applying your expertise and collaborating with internal teams, you help ensure that we accurately capture customer needs and requirements. With your contributions, we are better able to design, refine, and deliver the solutions proposed to customers.
You will define high-level technical solutions grounded in the customer context, translate business goals into clear technical approaches, outline key assumptions, and align the solution direction with the customer’s objectives and constraints.
Key responsibilities
As a Solution Engineer, your main responsibilities will be to:
Formulate and lead the presales technical/functional support activity.
Develop technical sales materials for large, complex sales opportunities.
Develop and deliver technical presentations and demos.
Advise and coordinate internally as regards resources, requirements, qualifications, and timelines.
Provide specialist knowledge in applying Opouras software and architecture.
Facilitate customers’ understanding of products/applications.
Formulate the technical replies to bids and proposals.
Gather insights into customer needs and requirements and share this knowledge within the organization.
Manage the suggested feature list for the OneView® SCADA platform.
Stakeholder for review of new release notes for OneView® SCADA.
Your background
Preferred background includes experience in technical solution engineering within energy technology, industrial software, or automation environments, ideally with exposure to renewable energy and SCADA/OT systems.
4–8+ years of relevant professional experience
German-speaking or fluent in German with strong professional communication skills
Background in energy technology, industrial software, or automation
Experience with renewable energy and/or SCADA/OT systems preferred
Experience within grid infrastructure is a plus
Presales/customer-facing engineering background
Knowledge of industrial communication protocols
Experience responding to RFPs/tenders
Ability to simplify technical concepts
